Payroll & HR Compliance Officer

Ballarat

Our head office in Ballarat is currently seeking a full time, highly organised Payroll & HR Officer to join our team who will ensure our people processes are accurate, compliant and well-supported.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering timely and accurate payroll processing while ensuring M Group Partners meet all HR, industrial relations and regulatory compliance requirements. You will work closely with Directors, Partners and Managers to provide guidance on awards, employment contracts, leave management and workforce compliance obligations.


Full time hours preferred. Flexible work hours can be negotiated however the role is expected to be carried out on site and within standard office working hours.

Responsibilities


Key responsibilities will include but not limited to:


Payroll

  •     End to end payroll processing for approx 160 employees (weekly/fortnightly)
  •     Maintain employee records in line with legislative & organisational requirements
  •     Process new starters, terminations and employment changes
  •     Reconcile PAYG, superannuation. payroll tax, STP reporting & year-end processes
  •     Ensure accuracy of leave balances and entitlement
  •     Limited ad-hoc office administration support including accounts payable, bank reconciliations and budgeting

HR Compliance

  •     Ensure compliance with Fair Work Act, relevant awards, NES and workplace legislation
  •     Manage HR documents including contracts, policies and onboarding material
  •     Support audits, including workcover, payroll tax (grouping), and internal compliance reviews
  •     Assist in policy reviews, updates and implementation across the organisations
  •     Provide HR advice/support to managers and employees on policies and procedures
  •     Support employee life cycle processes including on-boarding and off-boarding
  •     Support employee career development

Required Skills


The successful applicant will need to demonstrate:

  •     Experience in payroll processing and HR administration
  •     Minimum 3-5 years of payroll processing experience is required
  •     Strong understanding of Fair Work legislation, awards and employee entitlements
  •     Practical application knowledge of Fair Work legislation is required
  •     Strong attention to detail and strong numerical accuracy
  •     Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  •     Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  •     Demonstrate proficient payroll knowledge in Xero (highly favourable) or similar and Microsoft software
  •     Highly organisational and excellent time management/ analytical skills
  •     Ability to multi-task and complete tasks with minimal supervision
